Udupi: Hit and run case – Speeding car mows down motorbike near Kadiyali; Medical shop owner killed

Udupi: In a tragic road accident, the owner of a medical shop here was killed after a car hit the motorbike he was riding near Kadiyali here on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Vaman Nayak, the owner of the medical shop at Parkala.
Vaman Nayak was returning to his home at Parkala after dropping his son in Udupi when a speeding car rammed into his motorbike from behind. Due to the impact, he sustained serious head injuries.
Seriously injured Vaman was rushed to Government Hospital at Ajjarkad and was later referred to Manipal KMC Hospital. However, he could not be saved. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
The driver of the car, who is said to be a girl student, alighted from the vehicle after the incident, saw that Vaman was injured, and fled from the spot in the car, sources said.
Meanwhile, police have traced the woman who caused the accident and have taken her into custody. The car involved in the accident was also seized, sources added.
