Udupi: Police have arrested a man accused of recent theft in Kadabettu, Udupi.
The accused, Arif Munna Mohammed Arif from Mangaluru, was apprehended for allegedly breaking into the house of T. Prashanth Pai in Kadabetthu Ramanna Shetty Colony, police said.
Arif gained entry by breaking the main door with an unknown tool and stole a gold Lakshmi pendant weighing approximately 1 gram, which was worth around Rs 35,000.
Under the guidance of senior officers, Udupi Town Police Station Inspector Sridhar V. Satare led the investigation. The operation included SI Puneet Kumar B.E., Eranna Shiragumpi, Bharatesh Kankanawadi, and technical staff.
The special police team arrested the accused near Rajangana of Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi on August 24. They seized 5.400 grams of stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 35,964, a Hero Honda Splendor Plus bike used in the theft, and iron rods.
The accused already has over 15 cases registered against him in various police stations across Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi districts, police added.
