Udupi journalists’ association wins state award for excellence

Udupi: The Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association has been recognized with a prestigious state award for its exemplary performance.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, January 16 the association’s president, Rajesh Shetty Alevuru said that the association was selected for the award in recognition of its initiatives and activities undertaken in 2024. The award will be presented during the 39th State Journalists’ Conference scheduled to be held on January 18 and 19 in Tumakuru.
The association organized several programs in 2024, including the launch of a welfare fund for journalists, interactive sessions, foundation day celebrations, workshops, advocacy for journalists, public awareness campaigns, library inauguration, annual tours, and the Rajatha Kreeda Sambhrama (sports event).
Notably, the Udupi Journalists’ Association also received the Udupi District Rajyotsava Award for 2024. Additionally, the Udupi team bagged the overall championship at the state-level sports meet organized by the Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association in Tumakuru. These accomplishments contributed to the association winning the State Best Association Award.
President Alevuru also informed that Hari Prasad Nandalike from Karkala, a member of the district association, has been selected for the annual R.L. Vasudeva Rao Award for Best Forest Reporting, presented by the Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association.
District Association general secretary Nazeer Polya and treasurer Umesh Marpalli were also present at the press conference.
