Udupi: Karnataka State Olympics scheduled from January 16-23

The Karnataka State Olympics 2025 will be held from January 16 to 23, with athletes from across the state participating in various events, announced Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. Vidyakumari.
Presiding over a preparatory meeting held at the District Administration Office, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to ensure all necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of the games.
The week-long event will feature over 13 sports disciplines at the District Stadium and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Sports Complex, with more than 3,500 athletes expected to participate.
Arrangements for accommodation, food, and other essential facilities for athletes, officials, and referees were discussed. The opening ceremony is likely to see the presence of the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Sports Venues and Events
MAHE Sports Complex: Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Hockey.
District Stadium: Athletics, Basketball, Kabaddi, Taekwondo, and Volleyball.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to prepare the grounds to meet the requirements of the games and to ensure no inconvenience to athletes.
Committees and volunteers will be appointed to maintain discipline and coordinate efforts among departments for the seamless execution of the event.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K., Chief Planning Officer Uday Kumar Shetty, Joint Director of Industries Department Nagaraj V. Nayak, Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, DDPI Ganapati, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. I.P. Gadad, and District Information Officer Manjunath B.
