Lifeguards rescued two youths from drowning at Malpe Beach on Wednesday, May 8.
Gopinath (25) and Ranganatha (26) were part of a six-member group from Ballari who had arrived at the beach for an outing.
Reportedly the youths had ventured into the water for a swim at the Thottam area on the beach. Gopinath and Ranganatha were caught in a huge wave.
The lifeguards acted swiftly and rescued them from drowning.
High tides are expected in the sea owing to the New Moon and beachgoers have been advised to exercise caution when venturing into the waters
