Udupi: Magnificent Makara Sankranti festivities held at Sri Krishna Matha

Udupi: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the festival of “Mooru Teru” (three chariots) along with the Brahmaratha was celebrated with grandeur at Sri Krishna Matha here on Saturday.
The traditional festivities were held under the leadership of Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Sripad of the Paryaya Krishnapura Matha. Utsav idols of Lord Krishna, Mukhyaprana, Ananteshwar, and Chandramoulishwar were worshiped in Brahmaratha, Garuda Ratha, and Sanna Ratha.
Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Sripada and his successor Sri Vidyarajeshwara Theertha Sripada of Palimaru Matha, Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Sripada of Pejavara Matha, Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Sripada of Kaniyur Matha, Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Sripada of Sode Matha, Sri Eeshapriya Theertha Sripada of Adamaru Matha, Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Sripada of Shiroor Matha participated in the festival with scores of Hindu devotees.
After the ‘Teppotsava’ at Madhvasarovar, the festival of ‘Three Chariots’ culminated with the pulling of the chariots at the Car Street, which was decked up with festive electric lights. A display of colourful festive fireworks, held at the south end of Car Street, was also a crowd-pleaser.
Churnotsava and Avabhritha bathing will be held on Sunday morning.
