Udupi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held a roadshow in Udupi city on Monday in support of BJP candidate Yashpal Suvarna.
Shinde, who started his speech in Kannada, emphasized the long-standing relationship between Maharashtra and Karnataka, going back to the time of Shivaji Maharaj. Though Udupi is the birthplace, Mumbai has been the ‘karma bhoomi’ for many, he said.
He called on the people of Udupi to vote for the BJP and Yashpal Suvarna.
Shinde said that he has come to campaign for the BJP candidate due to the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government in Maharashtra. The alliance in Maharashtra is taking Bala Saheb Thackeray’s Hindutva issue forward, he said.
He also highlighted the cooperation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has led to a double-engine government in both Maharashtra and Karnataka, working towards development.
During the meeting, Shinde felicitated MLA Raghupathi Bhatt with a shawl and spoke about how Bhat’s support will help Yashpal Suvarna win the elections by a huge margin. Shinde also criticized the Congress manifesto’s proposal to ban Bajrang Dal, calling it unwise.
Shinde praised Prime Minister Modi for his leadership and how he has illuminated the name of the country all over the world.
