Udupi: Mahisha Dasara on Chamundi Hill is not appropriate: MP Yaduveer

Udupi: Mysuru’s Chamundi Hill is a religious site, and it belongs to Goddess Chamundeshwari. We believe in the goddess as Mahishasuramardini. While Mahisha Dasara can be celebrated without hurting religious sentiments, conducting it on Chamundi Hill is inappropriate, said MP Yaduveer Wadiyar.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Sunday, MP Yaduveer stated, “As a responsible public representative, I acknowledge that the Constitution allows people to hold any belief. Any celebration can be performed at home. However, for public events, government permission is required. If the event is conducted in accordance with the rules, we are happy,” he added.
In the wake of the ongoing conflict between the Mahisha Mandalotsava and Chamundi Chalo processions, prohibitory orders were imposed on Sunday at Mysuru’s Chamundi Hill. Public access has been restricted, and no one is allowed to visit the Chamundi Temple on Sunday. Consequently, tight police security has been arranged around the Chamundi Hill.
CM Siddaramaiah Should Resign:
Discussing the MUDA scam and Valmiki scandal within the state’s Congress government, Yaduveer stated that it is appropriate for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to resign, as an FIR has already been registered against him in connection with the MUDA case. “The Chief Minister holds a responsible position. He should step down and face the investigation. Based on the findings of the probe, he can continue in his position,” MP Yaduveer opined.
