Udupi: Man gets 3-year jail term for vandalizing mosque property

Udupi: The First Additional CJ and JMFC court awarded a three-year jail term to a Udupi resident convicted for trespassing into the mosque territory and vandalising its property.
The convict, Ankit Poojary (31), is a resident of Kodankoor village, Udupi.
On 29 January 2017, Ankit had allegedly trespassed into the Masjid e Noor Islam at Ambalapady, Adi Udupi broke the window panes and indulged in stone pelting resulting in communal disharmony in the locality. His act was caught in the CCTV camera.
A case was registered in the Udupi City Station and a charge-sheet was submitted to the court against the accused.
Justice Shyam Prakash delivered the verdict in this case. The accused has also been slapped with a penalty of Rs 10,000.
