Udupi/Mangaluru: Server issues disrupt domestic gas cylinder supply in coastal districts

Udupi: Several areas in the coastal districts have been facing disruptions in domestic gas supply over the past few days. The primary reasons cited for this issue are staff shortages and server problems at HPCL and BPCL. This has affected gas supplies in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, and four districts of Kerala.

The central office has stated that a one-day delay in gas supply leads to disruption in the movement of 100 to 150 trucks. Consumers who have booked cylinders are now forced to wait for 10 to 20 days.

Additionally, customers face technical issues during booking due to a requirement to provide detailed information, including the booking number. Suppliers estimate that it may take a few more days to resolve the situation.

According to a supplier, Rahul, the issue was widespread last week, but efforts have been made to resolve it gradually. However, there have been no interruptions in the supply of commercial cylinders, as they are given priority.

OTP Mandatory

As part of a pilot project, an OTP verification system has been implemented. To ensure transparency and confirm cylinder delivery, customers are required to provide the OTP received on their mobile phones to the delivery personnel. Customers who need to change their registered mobile numbers can do so by visiting their gas agency with their gas passbook, according to Udupi HP Gas agent Raghavendra Acharya.
