Udupi mass marriage ceremony on April 26

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha presided a meeting on Friday and instructed district officials to make preparations for a mass marriage ceremonies to be conducted on April 26.

The mass marriages will be conducted in various temples across the district which are under the Religious Endowment Department.

It was further elaborated in the meeting that gold ‘Taali’ weighing 8 grams will be given to the bride in the ceremony. A tender for purchase of the Taalis will be floated soon.

The Deputy Commissioner further added that awareness about the mass marriages must be made and financial assistance given by the Department of Woman and Child Development can be done during the ceremonies.

The registration of the bride and the groom for the ceremony will be on till March 27. The list will then be published in temples on April 1.
