Udupi: A massive landslide that destructed several acres of forest at Koterayana Betta has created a sense of fear among villagers residing at the foot of the Western Ghats range here.

On Sunday, Koterayana Betta which is located around five kilometers away from Madamakki in Hebri taluk caved in due to the heavy rainfall lashing across the district. A water body, created at the site of the cave in and water mixed with slush was washed away in the rain to Mannadi village.

Residents of Mannadi and Agalibailu villages have expressed fear that if rains continue to lash the region it may trigger further landslides.
