Udupi: MGM College ‘Amrita Mahotsava’ begins today

Udupi: The prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College in Udupi will host its Amrita Mahotsava celebrations from November 29 to December 1 on the college premises.
The celebrations will commence today at 9:00 AM with the inauguration of the T. Mohandas Pai Amrit Soudha by T. Satish U. Pai, the president of the MGM College Trust.
Following this, an exhibition will be inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. K. Vidyakumari.
The main event will take place at the Mudduanna Mantapa, where Sri Vidyesha Teertha Swamiji, the head of the Sri Krishnapura Matha, will deliver his blessings.
The program will also include a felicitation ceremony to honor members of the administrative board, retired principals, and faculty.
In the afternoon, students will present cultural performances, including Yakshagana.
On November 30, at 8:15 AM, Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji, the head of Paryaya Sri Puthige Matha, will perform the ‘jyothi handover’ ceremony.
Dr. Ranjan R. Pai, Registrar of AGE Manipal, will flag off the Shobha Yatra at 9:00 AM. The procession will begin at Gandhi Main School, Udupi, and conclude at MGM College.
The celebrations will conclude on December 1 with the valedictory ceremony scheduled from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The event will be graced by the presence of Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji, the head of Sri Pejawar Matha, according to a release.
