Udupi MGM College: Special postal cover released during Amrita Mahotsava

Udupi: A special postal cover was released by Udupi Postal Division Superintendent Ramesh Prabhu on Friday during the inauguration of the Amrita Mahotsava celebrations at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Prabhu lauded the vision of the Late Dr. T.M.A. Pai, who established the college in Udupi when higher education required students to travel to Mangaluru. He said this initiative had gifted the nation thousands of distinguished alumni.

Dignitaries at the event included Krishnapur Matha’s Sri Vidyasagar Teertha Swamiji, MLA Yashpal Suvarna, MGM College Trust President T. Satish U. Pai, Bangalore North University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niranjan Vanalli, MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr. H.S. Ballal, MAHE Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. Dr. M.D. Venkatesh, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, AGE Secretary B.P. Varadaraya Pai, and family members of Dr. T.M.A. Pai, including T. Narayan Pai, T. Ashok Pai, Kusuma Pandurang Pai, T. Vasanthi Pai, and Vasanthi R. Shenoy.

Principals and directors from various institutions, including MGM College Principal Prof. Lakshminarayana Karanth, Sandhya College Principal Dr. Devidas Nayak, and Pre-University College Principal Malathi Devi, also participated.

Amrit Mahotsav Valedictory Ceremony Today at MGM College

The valedictory function of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations at MGM College, Udupi’s first college, will be held on December 1.

The event begins with cultural performances by students from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by alumni activities. Prof. Prasanna Tantri from Hyderabad Power Finance Corporation Ltd. will be the guest of honor.

Afternoon events include alumni cultural performances at 12:30 PM, student performances from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, and faculty cultural presentations from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

The valedictory session will be graced by Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji of Sri Pejawara Matha. Chief guests include District Minister-in-Charge Lakshmi Hebbalkar, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P.L. Dharma, Joint Director of Regional Education Department Prof. Ramegowda, and DDPI Maruthi.

The event will be presided over by MGM College Trust President T. Satish U. Pai. Other prominent participants include MAHE Registrar Dr. Ranjan R. Pai, TMA Pai Foundation President T. Ashok Pai, and MAHE leaders Dr. H.S. Ballal, Lt. Gen. Dr. M.D. Venkatesh, and Dr. Narayana Sabhahit.

The evening will feature a musical performance by Vidyabhushan and Medha Hirannmayi from Bengaluru at 5:30 PM, according to a release by the college.
