Udupi: Newly-appointed district in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai visited the district hospital here on Sunday.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Naveen Bhat and other officials from the district, the minister inspected the hospital and spoke with the officials there.
Speaking after his visit, Bommai said that arrangements have been made to have separate beds for those who are COVID-19 positive and those COVID-19 patients suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).
He added that beds will also be increased in the ICU units of the district as well as private hospitals.
“Presently, there is only one laboratory in the district conducting COVID-19 tests and with the increase in the load of samples the laboratory is finding it difficult. Hence, a new laboratory will be installed soon,” he added.
