Udupi: A tense situation prevailed at Doddangudde last night after few youths attempted to deface Lord Hanuman’s photo at a Vyaayam Mandir here.
On Thursday, November 14 six to seven persons entered the Jalajakshi Shedti Rangamandir here, placed a hat on Lord Hanuman’s photo and took selfies. The miscreants also allegedly assaulted two youths, practising at the Vyaayam Mandir when they confronted them for their behaviour. Later they fled the spot.
As news of the incident spread, a large number of people gathered at the spot. Senior police officials including Udupi SP Nisha James, DySP Jai Shanker arrived at the spot and ensured adequate security in the area.
