The 22-year-old missing woman was found dead in the Papanashini river here near Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple Padubelle on October 13.
The body of Vinita, daughter of Sadashiva Poojary, a resident of Moodubelle Kongibailu, was discovered in the section of the river falling under the jurisdiction of the Shirva police station.
Vinita had been reported missing since October 9, when she departed from her residence, stating her intention to visit Udupi. Unfortunately, she did not return home thereafter.
A BCom graduate, Vinita had been employed at an electrical bike showroom near MGM College, Udupi, for a span of approximately four months. She had recently resigned from her position, approximately a week prior to her disappearance.
Preliminary assessments suggest a possibility of suicide, as Vinita was reportedly grappling with mental distress after leaving her job about a week ago.
The body has been transported to Manipal KMC Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Presently, officers from the Shirva Police Station, along with Crime Branch PSI Anil Kumar, are engaged in the ongoing investigation.
Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek expert help.
