Udupi: National-level ‘Atal Trophy’ Kabaddi tournament on Dec 24-25

Udupi: A National-level Kabaddi tournament ‘Atal Trophy’ is being organized in the district as part of ‘Atal Utsav’ celebration on the occasion of hte 98 Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The district BJP is organizing innovative programs on December 24 and 25. The open Pro-Kabaddi tournament will begin on Saturday, December 24 at 5 pm at the MGM College grounds.
An open invitation has been given to teams from different states of the country. All pre-preparations for the tournament are underway in full swing at the MGM ground. A gallery that can accommodate around 10,000 spectators is being readied.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Information Technology and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur will inaugurate the Atal Trophy tournament. State Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister Narayana Gowda will inaugurate the sporting arena, a press release said.
Kannada and Culture Department and Energy Minister V. Sunil Kumar, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi District In-charge Minister S. Angara, are expected to attend the event.
The tournament is being organised under the leadership of BJP Udupi District President Kuiladi Suresh Naik, under the conception by Udupi Assembly Constituency MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat and chairmanship of Udupi City BJP president Mahesh Thakur, the release said.
Attractive prizes;
The winning teams will be awarded an attractive permanent plaque and cash prizes, the release said.
First Prize: 1 lakh rupees; Second Prize: Rs 75,000; Third Prize: Rs 50,000; Fourth prize: Rs 25,000
Attractive trophies around 5 feet tall will be awarded as lifelong memories.
