Udupi: Nephew, his accomplice held for woman’s attempted murder

Udupi: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman in Shivalli Manipal on February 18.

The victim who has been identified as Sumathi, wife of Ramanath Rai has been admitted to a nearby hospital. She was allegedly stabbed by her nephew, Mithun, and his friend, Nagesh over personal enmity.

It is said that on Friday, Mithun and Nagesh barged into Sumathi’s house, stabbed her and then stuffed her into a trolley bag.

However, the accused were spotted by a neighbor and the victim’s husband while trying to escape from the scene. Sumathi was rescued and admitted to a hospital.

Meanwhile, the locals then managed to catch the accused and informed the police officials who took them into custody.
