Udupi: No weekly mkts, temple fairs during GP bypolls, orders DC

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha has issued an order banning all weekly markets and temple fairs during gram panchayat by-elections o be held on March 29.

For the purpose of maintaining peace and order and to facilitate voting by the public in the by-election, all fairs and public markets in Kodi gram panchayat in Brahmavar taluk, Shirva gram panchayat’s Ward 12 in Kaup taluk and Kumbhashi gram panchayat’s Ward 3 in Kundapura taluk, will be prohibited, the order read.

Rituals in the temples can only be observed by the temple staff, the Deputy Commissioner said.
