Udupi: Parthagali Sri Vidyaraja Teertha Swami no more

Udupi: Parthagali Sri Vidyaraja Teertha Wadera Swami (76) passed away on Monday from a heart attack.

Born as Raghavendra Acharya in Gangolli in the district on August 3, 1945, he attained sanyasa on February 26, 1967.

He finished his primary and secondary schooling at Gangolli and studied at the Bhandarkar College in Kundapur.

While in college he came under the tutelage of Shri Dwarkanath Swami and attained sanyasa in Wadala in Mumbai.

He became the chief of the Parthagali Matha in Gokarna in 1971.

After becoming the chief and for the next 50 years, he developed the Parthigali Matha and its branch mathas.
