Udupi: in view of the rising Covid cases, the Paryaya Mahotsava will be a simple affair keeping only to the traditional rituals, announced MLA Raghupati Bhat.
During the 251st biennial Paryaya Mahotsava, Sri Vidyasagarateertha Shripad of the Krishnapura Matha will receive the Krishna Puja Paryaya Deekshe on January 18, he said and added that a large crowd of devotees and spectators will not be allowed during any of the festivities.
Instead, the festivities and programs will be live telecasted, he said.
The seer will enter the town (Pura Pravesha) on January 10. The ‘Hore Kanike’ (offerings) that were to be held on January 15 and 16 has been canceled due to the weekend curfew. An alternate day has been decided for the same, he informed.
The Abhivandana ceremony for Paryaya Adamaru seer in the chairmanship of Krishnapura seer will be held at the Rajangana instead of the Rathabeedi (Car street).
There will be cultural programs held every evening at the Rathbeedi Vedike from January 10 to January 17, except for January 15 and 16 in view of the curfew, he added.
