Kaup: Gudda Panar, a ‘Daiva Nartaka’ famously known for “Pili Kola”, one amongst the seven ‘Jatras’ of the erstwhile Tulunadu, is chosen for the prestigious Rajyotsava Award- 2022 recognizing his contribution to preserving the ancient folklore “Daivaraadhane”, especially “Pili Kola”.

Serving as a ‘Daiva Nartaka’ for the past 48 years, he has involved himself in “Pili Kola” for 38 years now.

After he entered into “Pili Kola”, he gradually stopped serving as a ‘Daiva Nartak’ of other Daivas which he served earlier.

Expressing his feelings about being awarded the Rajyotsava Award Gudda Panar said, “I began as a ‘Daiva Nartaka’ from the age of 20. The folklore was passed on to me by my father. To my sincere service towards preserving the folklore, ‘Daiva’ has rewarded me”.
