Udupi: The pregnant COVID-19 patient from Bhatkal who was undergoing treatment at Dr T M A Pai Hospital here has fully recovered and was discharged with a small ceremony.
The 26-year-old, in her 17th week of pregnancy, was admitted on April 9.
Both her samples sent for testing on April 21 and 23 reported negative.
While sending her off to her home, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha stated that as it was challenging to treat a pregnant COVID-19 patient in the Uttara Kannada district and as per regulations only residents of Udupi district were to be provided treatment here so they too had initially rejected her but after instructions of the Chief Minister she was admitted.
She was then taken to her home in an ambulance.
SP Vishnuvardhan, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district COVID-19 nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat, district survey officer Dr Vasudeva Upadhyaya, Dr Premanand, KMC’s medical superintendent Dr Avinash Shetty, Dr T M A Pai hospital’s Dr Shashikiran and hospital staff were present during the send-off.
