Udupi: Private bus mows down man crossing highway near Muloor

Kapu: In a gruesome accident, a private bus crushed a man crossing the highway to death near Muloor here on the evening of Saturday, January 1.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Bangera alias Hari Om (65), who resided near Moolur beach. A private express bus on its way from Mangalore towards Udupi hit him while crossing the road near Muloor bus stand on NH-66.

Highway traffic was completely disrupted due to the accident and Kapu police and locals conducted timely operations to facilitate road traffic. Eyewitnesses said that the accident was horrific that the remains had to be picked up in pieces.

Kapu police rushed to the spot and took control of the situation. The mortal remains have been shifted to the district hospital.

The deceased is survived by his wife and a daughter. He had built a new home only three months ago. The locals recalled that he had been involved in another accident a few months ago. He had been hit by a car and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment, they added.
