Udupi: Former MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, who is contesting the South-West Graduates’ Legislative Council Constituency as an independent candidate, has filed a complaint with the Election Officer regarding a fake news video circulating on social media.

The video falsely claimed that Bhat had withdrawn from the Legislative Council elections.

Bhat stated in his complaint that a fake news video, resembling a report from a private news channel, was broadcast on the eve of the elections. The video falsely alleged his withdrawal in a fake “breaking news” report. This false information has caused confusion among voters.

Bhat has requested immediate legal action against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
