Udupi: Reprint of ‘Geetamritasara’ unveiled during Geetotsava

Udupi: During the Bruhat Geetotsava organized by Paryaya Puttige Matha at the Sri Krishna Matha Paryaya Puttige seer Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji unveiled the reprinted edition of the rare and profound book Geetamritasara on Tuesday, December 17. The book, originally published in 1961, is based on the commentary of Acharya Madhva’s Bhagavad Gita by his guru, Sri Sujnanendra Theertha Swamiji.
Addressing the gathering, Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji reminisced about the immense knowledge, scholarship, and expertise in Ayurveda possessed by Sri Sujnanendra Theertha Swamiji.
The pre-monastic kin of Sri Sujnanendra Theertha Swamiji, Dr. N. B. Vijay Ballal, the trustee of Ambalapadi Janardana Mahakali Temple, was honored with the Sri Krishna Geetaanugraha Award.
On the occassion Dr. Ballal recalled serving as a physician to the late seer and shared anecdotes of the seer’s admiration for Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji.
Junior seer Sri Sushreendra Theertha Swamiji graced the occasion with his presence.
Dr. Ramakrishna Ramachandra Suri, who has imparted Gita teachings to numerous students, was also honored with the Sri Krishna Geetaanugraha Award. Hegemadi Sudheendra Acharya, a descendant of Sri Sujnanendra Theertha Swamiji’s pre-monastic lineage, delivered a lecture.
Omprakash Bhat, who edited the reprinted book, provided insights into its significance and the contributions of the author. The event was coordinated by Mahitosh Acharya, who welcomed the gathering and compered the program. Dignitaries including the Math’s Diwan Nagraj Acharya and International Secretary Prasannacharya were also present.
Comedy fest at Geetotsava
On December 18, a comedy program featuring Gangavathi Pranesh, Narasimha Joshi, and Basavaraj Mahamani will be held at 5 PM in Rajangana.
