Udupi: Resident loses Rs 1 crore in online trading scam

Udupi: A resident of Alevoor was defrauded of more than Rs 1 crore by cyber criminals through a ‘bogus trading app’.
The complainant said he received a message on WhatsApp about making better profits from online trading. The sender also persuaded him to download a trading app through a provided link.
Succumbing to the lure, the complainant downloaded the app and entered his details. Subsequently, between December 5 and January 9, the accused siphoned off Rs 1,38,99,000 in multiple transactions to various bank accounts.
A case has been registered at CEN Police Station.
