Udupi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat visited the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha on Sunday (Dec 8) evening and offered prayers to the deity.

Following this, a simple ceremony was held at the Geethamandira, where Paryaya Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Puthige Matha honored Bhagwat with the title “Hindu Samrat” and conferred upon him the Shri Krishna Geethanugraha Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the protection of Sanatana Dharma. As part of the honor, he was presented with sacred offerings, a giant ceremonial staff (Kadagolu), a silver plaque, a shawl, and fruits.

After visiting the Sri Krishna temple, Dr. Bhagwat toured the Geethamandira, where Swamiji introduced him to the Geetha Shila inscription meditation hall and the Vadiraja Research Center. The Swamiji explained the various activities undertaken there and highlighted the ambitious Koti Geethalekhana Yajna project initiated during his fourth Paryaya term. Bhagwat expressed keen interest and delight in these endeavors.

The two leaders also held a private discussion on the current anti-Hindu incidents occurring in India and Bangladesh. They emphasized the need for every Hindu to exhibit zero tolerance toward threats to Sanatana Dharma. They stressed that the community’s sages and saints must provide stronger religious and nationalistic guidance to society.

Swamiji lauded the century-old efforts of the RSS in safeguarding the identity of Sanatana Dharma in India. He remarked that without the RSS, Hindus might have faced greater challenges. He praised the dedication and sacrifices of all RSS leaders, from Dr. Hedgewar to Dr. Bhagwat, for instilling a spirit of patriotism among countless individuals. In the present complex scenario, Swamiji highlighted the indispensability of Bhagwat’s leadership and the strength of the RSS. He prayed for their continued service and guidance for the nation.

Dr. Bhagwat also received blessings from Junior Yati Sri Sushrindra Tirtha Swamiji.

Senior RSS leader Mukund, Matha Diwan M. Nagaraj Acharya, Matti Lakshmi Narayan Rao, Pramod Sagar, Santosh Shetty, scholars, and dignitaries were among those present.

Dr. Bhagwat was warmly received at the Matha entrance with traditional music, chende drums, and Vedic chants in a ceremonial manner.
