Udupi: As the number of COVID-19 positive cases is declining, schools will reopen in the district, said minister for Energy, Kannada and Culture Sunil Kumar on Monday, August 30.

He informed that the positivity rate of COVID-19 cases is 1.4% in the last three days.

Calling it a good development, the minister said, “The district administration has decided to open schools for class 9 to second PU students from September 1,” further added, “vaccination is mandatory for teachers.”

He also said that private educational institutions have to carefully monitor the Covid guidelines.

Addressing the media about the celebration of Ganesh Chaturti, Sunil said, “There has been a public demand to allow the celebration of Ganesh Chaturti but any decision regarding the same will be taken after considering the experts’ opinion.”
