Udupi: Schools, PU colleges to remain shut on July 6

Udupi: As a precautionary measure for the heavy rainfall prediction, a holiday has been declared for schools and PU colleges in the district for  Thursday, July 6.

Udupi DC Kurma Rao announced on Wednesday that Anganwadis, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges, including aided as well as private institutions, shall remain closed on July 6.

The schools in the district remained shut on Tuesday and Wednesday. Intense downpours caused havoc in the district with several areas being waterlogged, electric poles snapped and trees uprooted.

Meanwhile, IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall to continue on Thursday. A red alert has been issued for Thursday.
