Udupi: A major accident was narrowly averted after a scooter caught fire due to a petrol leak near a petrol pump in Chitpadi, Udupi.

The incident occurred when a man filled petrol into a bottle at the petrol pump and placed it inside the storage compartment of his scooter. The petrol began to leak from the bottle, causing the engine to catch fire.

Local petrol pump staff, along with bystanders, quickly sprang into action and managed to extinguish the fire after significant effort. Their timely intervention helped prevent what could have been a disastrous accident, especially as several buses and other vehicles were parked just a short distance from the site of the incident.
