Udupi: District Deputy Commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha in a revised order issued on Monday, May 4, has allowed all shops in the district to be open from 7 am to 7 pm.

The earlier order had allowed shops to be open from 7 am to 1 pm from May 4.

On the first day of the relaxation, shops were crowded making them difficult to enforce social distancing. Hence, after observing this the DC decided to extend the relaxation in the timings.

Liquor shops, however, will be open from 9 am to 7 pm and no vehicular traffic will be allowed from 7 pm to 7 am.

The shops will have to ensure social distancing by marking areas 6 feet apart for shoppers to wait in and all must wear facemasks.
