Udupi: The annual Saptotsava at Sri Krishna Math commenced on Thursday under the stewardship of Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Puthige Math.
Following the evening Chamara Seva puja, the celebrations began with the Teppotsava. This year, the Teppa was beautifully decorated in the form of Parthasarathi. After the Teppotsava, the two-chariot festival took place on Rathabeedi.
The idols of Sri Krishna – Mukhyaprana were placed in one chariot, while the idols from Ananteshwara and Chandramoulishwara temples were carried in the other. Junior Swamiji of Sri Puthige Math, Sri Sushreendra Tirtha Swamiji, also participated in the event.
Earlier, Paryaya Sri inaugurated a vibrant bhajan session in front of the Kanaka Gopura. Bhajan teams performed rhythmic devotional dances, captivating the gathering as the festival proceeded. Rathabeedi dazzled with colorful lights.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajan Parishat of Udupi. Bhajan groups from Kuthpadi Kalasangam Bhajan Mandali, Mudradi Sri Veerabhadra Bhajan Mandali, and Indrali Sri Mahishamardini Mahila Bhajan Mandali participated in the event.
The Saptotsava will continue daily until January 13, followed by the Makar Sankranti festival on January 14 and the Churnotsava during the day on January 15.
