Udupi: State-level volleyball player dies during match

Kaup: A State-level volleyball player died while playing a match at Innanje in the district here.

Devaraj (33), a resident of Kurkalu Subhash Nagar, is the deceased.

On Saturday night at about 1 am, Devaraj, who was playing for the Innjane Challengers team in the Innanje Premier League tournament, collapsed after suffering a heart attack.

He was rushed to a hospital in Udupi, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Devaraj was not married and has lost his father four months ago. He is survived by his mother and five sisters.

The organisers of the Innanje Premier League have decided to cancel the tournament and organise a condolence meet.
