Nearly a month after a 22-year-old youth was found hanging dead in what was presumed to be a suicide, investigations have revealed that he had been murdered by his distant relative.
The incident had taken place on September 14 n a forest area between Kukkehalli and Baje. The deceased Kritik J Salian’s family members had raised doubts over his death after his bank statement revealed that lakhs of rupees had been withdrawn from his account.
Police investigating the case found that Kritik had loaned around Rs nine lakhs to the accused Dinesh in different phases. Meanwhile Dinesh came to know that Kritik was in love with a woman and intended to marry her.
He thus used this information to hatch a plot to murder Kritik to avoid repaying the loan. He managed to convince Kritik to enact a fake suicide bid and then send the video to the woman saying that she would agree to the marriage.
Dinesh also got Kritik to write a suicide note which he then kept to himself. On the day of the incident, Dinesh told Kritik to come to the forest. He then told Kritik to place the noose around his neck and he even placed stones below to avoid any suspicion of his intent. When Kritik finally put the noose around his neck he removed the stones which caused Kritik to die.
