Udupi: Sumitra Nayak elected president, Lakshmi vice president of town council

Udupi: BJP councillor from Parkala ward Sumitra Nayak was elected president and councillor Lakshmi of Kola ward was elected vice president of the Udupi town council in the election held on Thursday, October 29.

Of the 35 seats in the council, the BJP has 31 seats while Congress has 4. Hence BJP members were unanimously elected as president and vice president.

The reserved list for the post of president was Backward Class (A) Woman and for vice president, it was General Woman.

After winning the election Sumitra Nayak stated that it is our duty to resolve the existing problems and prioritize work.

The election was held on at Satyamurthy Smaraka Sabhangana by Assistant Commissioner of Kundapur subdivision Raju.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Coastal Development Authority Chairman Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, Urban Development Authority Chairman Raghavendra Kini, Fish Sales Federation President Yashpal Suvarna, Town Council Commissioner Ananda C Kallullikar and Revenue Officer Dhananjay were present during the election.
