Udupi: Tourist from Mandya drowns at Malpe beach

Malpe: A young tourist died in a drowning incident at the Malpe beach on April 21 afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Nagendra Prasad GR (21) from Mandya. It is said that he was a lift operator at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.

A total of five friends had come to Malpe Beach on Sunday, and while they were playing in the water, Nagendra was swept away by the waves.

Ishwar Malpe and a team of lifeguards rushed to his rescue and brought him out of the water. Nagendra breathed his last while being taken to a hospital in Manipal.

A complaint has been registered at Malpe Police Station.
