Udupi: Tourist from Tumakuru drowns at Malpe beach

Udupi: A 23-year-old youth from Tumkaru died of drowning at Malpe beach here on Tuesday October 5 while two other persons, who were part of the same group of tourists were rescued by the lifeguards.

The deceased Akhter was a mechanic by profession.

As per reports, the group of eight tourists had arrived at Malpe Beach in the afternoon. Despite the warning boards put up at the beach, the group members ventured into the sea for a swim and three of them were dragged away by the waves.

Acting swiftly the lifeguards, managed to save two of the tourists — Mohammed Pasha and Ibrahim. Akhter however had gone missing and his body was found later.
