Udupi: Amid rising Covid cases in the district, the traffic police here distributed masks to those roaming in the city without masks.
A team led by Traffic SI Abdul Khader distributed masks near Kalsanka, Udupi service bus stand, and other places in the city after imposing a fine on the violators.
Police also imposed a fine on those who were holding their mask instead of wearing it. Bus conductors were also fined for letting passengers travel without masks.
“Cases in the district are increasing day by day and recently the district collector also warned people to follow covid rules by conducting a public drive after which 80% of the people are following the rules and regulations,” said Abdul Khader.
