Udupi: Following complaints from the general public that police checkposts at districts borders are still asking for travel passes from travellers travelling out of the district, the district’s Assistant Deputy Commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu clarified that people can now freely move outside the district.
He added that all concerned authorities – tahsildars, police departments etc. have been notified about it.
However, he also added that people must have a necessary reason to travel outside the district.
The State government issued an order allowing the free movement of people in the district except in containment zones. As the order was issued late in the night, border checkpost received the order late.
