Udupi: A waste collection worker of the town council was assaulted by shopkeepers over the issue of garbage disposal near the city bus stand here.

The two attackers, Ismail (55) and Sohail (28), were arrested by police after a case was registered against them by the worker Sanju Madar (26).

Sanju had arrived with the waste collection vehicle near the city bus stand. He questioned Ismail and Sohail for mixing wet and dry garbage of their shop.

The altercation between them increased and Ismail and Sohail started attacking Sanju publicly.

MLA Raghupati Bhatt and former minister Pramod Madhvaraj have demanded appropriate legal action against the attackers.
