Udupi: Unidentified person illegally enters girls’ hostel, harasses student; case filed

Manipal: An unidentified person illegally entered the girls’ post-matriculation hostel run by the backward Classes welfare department in Manipal and reportedly molested a girl while asleep.

The incident took place at midnight and the person allegedly molested the student who was sleeping near the window. The student screamed, and at this time the person fled from the spot.

More than 90 girls are boarding in the hostel and there are 3 to 4 security personnel. The person seems to have entered the premises without the notice of the security staff.

The police sources said that CCTV footage showed a person running away.

A complaint has been registered at the Manipal Police Station.
