Udupi: A case of triple talaq has been reported from the district. The family of the aggrieved woman alleged that the husband divorced her using triple talaq and married a second time.
The woman named Shehnaz filed a complaint at the Udupi Women’s police station here alleging that Mohammed Yusuf, whom she had married 15 years ago, suddenly unlawfully divorced her using triple talaq.
Shehnaz, daughter of Usman from Ambagilu here, had married Mohammad Yusuf, son of Mayyadi from Tenka Yermal in 2006. They have a son from the marriage. The complaint alleges that Yusuf pestered his wife to ask for money from her parents and threatened to throw her out for failing to do so.
Due to the differences, Shehnaz lived with her parents for some time now, the complaint says.
recently, Yusuf called Usman informing him that he was divorcing Shehnaz using triple talaq. He also said he would marry another woman named Zeenat from Krishnapura.
In her complaint, Shehnaz has sought legal action against her husband Yusuf, — along with Altaf, Siraj, Aisha, Nafisa, Hasan, and Zeenat — who helped him marry a second time.
