Udupi: Woman files complaint against husband over dowry harassment

Udupi: A woman named  Deepa (33), wife of Surendra G Poojary has filed a dowry harassment case against her husband and his family members.

Deepa is  a resident of Patelarabettu, Tekkatte in Kundapur taluk and married  Surendra G Poojary on May 3, 2012. It is said that  her parents had paid dowry of two lac rupees in cash and after marriage the couple settled in  Bengaluru.

But, soon after they inflicted physical and mental torture on her demanding to bring additional dowry. She was also threatened with murder if she revealed the harassment to her parents. A case has been registered under the  Dowry Prohibition Act
