Udupi: Yakshagana workshop for out-state theatre artists

Udupi: Yakshagana Kendra in Udupi’s MGM college has come up with a Yakshagana workshop for theatre artists from various states in the country.
“The workshop aims to teach skills and moves that have been forgotten in today’s age, the forms in Yakshagana that only a few performers have been passed on by their Gurus,” said Bannanje Sanjeev Suvarna, the teacher at Yaksagana Kendra.
The syllabus for the workshop has been curated and the workshop has begun on February 20.
Sanjeev Suvarana informed that they expected up to 10 participants to attend the workshop but around 16 people have turned up.
The Yakshagana workshop is free of charge, theatre artists and Bharatnatyam artists are among the 16 participants. Out of which two have been infected with COVID-19.
Talking about how the Yakshagana workshop will help in theatre, Kavita, a participant from Chennai informed, ” Makeup and dialogue delivery can come in handy for theatre artists.”
Yashoda from Nashik in Maharashtra, Pooja and Latha Singh from Mumbai, Muttu Kumar from Bengaluru, Pramod from Gujarat, Vishal from Jaipur, Vikas and Mosam Khan from Lucknow, Dhriti, Atul and Ajith from Delhi and Jalaja from Kundapura in Udupi are among the participants of the workshop.
