Udupi: On June 22, a car plunged into Barkur’s Chowlikere lake killing the car’s driver, businessman Santosh Shetty, on the spot and his accomplice Shwetha unconscious.
However, Shwetha’s life was saved by the first-aid performed on her by a Class 10 student living nearby. The video of the girl performing first aid on Shwetha has now gone viral.
Namana, class 10 student of Brahmavara’s Little Rock School, is the young girl who saved Shwetha’s life. She is the daughter of a Government PU College lecturer.
As a cadet in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Namana had learnt to perform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR ) to remove water ingested by a person saved from drowning. The life-saving lesson came in handy after the accident.
After the first-aid, Shwetha was taken to Manipal’s hospital where she is recovering.
Hospital’s physicians have appreciated Namana’s timely action as Shwetha’s life would have been at risk if she had not received the first-aid.
