Udupi: A youth in Brahmavar was assaulted for questioning derogatory comments made against Hindu activists on social media.

The accused has been identified as Riyan, a resident of Brahmavar. It is said that Riyan used to often upload WhatsApp status insulting Hindus. Prajwal had asked him to refrain from such acts.

But Riyan did not pay heed and continued to post derogatory comments on social media.

A few days ago, when Prajwal was coming back home from work along with his friend Sanjan, Riyan waylaid them and picked a fight with him at Sastan toll gate.

Later Riyan and his friends went to Kundapur in a car and spotted Prajwal near the Saligrama bus stop. They then assaulted Prajwal and threatened to kill him.

A case has been registered.
