Udupi: In a heartwarming incident, an intellectually challenged boy, who had been missing for six months, was finally reunited with his family, thanks to the combined efforts of compassionate social workers and the power of social media.

Deepak (18) had gone missing from his hometown in Odisha and was found wandering aimlessly around Udupi city and bus stand. Fortunately, social worker Vishu Shetty came to his rescue and admitted him to Uppur’s rehabilitation center for the intellectually challenged.

Fate intervened when the YouTube channel “Great Indian ASMR” recently sponsored a charitable lunch for the inmates at the Spandana Kendra, where Deepak had taken shelter. A video of the event was uploaded on YouTube.

As fate would have it, a youth from Odisha happened to stumble upon the video and immediately recognized Deepak as the missing boy from his town. The youth relayed the information to Deepak’s worried parents.
