Udupi: SSLC exams are a stressful experience for many, especially after the disruption of schools due to the Covid pandemic. Realizing this, the Education Department and the Zilla Panchayat have come forward to equip the SSLC students of the district with the necessary skills to excel in the upcoming board examinations. Students are being trained to improve their writing skills through open-book examinations.
An official informed that the students are given the question paper and the textbooks during the examination. This helps students to understand the demands of the examination better and helps them to adapt to the pattern of examination. The students will be trained to answer questions effectively within the limited time allotted, the official said.
Efforts are also on to improve the results of the schools in the district. A Zilla Panchayat official informed that headteachers of the schools, which achieved only the B-category results, have been instructed to put in efforts to improve the learning outcomes. Based on the result of the mid-year examination, students will be counseled about the ways in which they can improve their academic performance.
Counseling facilities are also being set up by the Zilla Panchayat. Students can clear their doubts, share and resolve mental stress, fear, and any other issues of mental health by trained counselors.
Parents and Students to get wake up call
Zilla Panchayat CEO, Naveen Bhat said that teachers have been directed to send a wake-up call at 6 am every day to the parents or the students. Quiet and peaceful morning hours create a conducive atmosphere for studies, he said.
